Solo quedan 5 meses para la llegada de los saiyajin con el objetivo de conquistar la Tierra. Después de un largo viaje, Gokū llegó finalmente al planeta de Kaio-sama.

En menos de 5 meses habrán llegado los saiyajin para conquistar la Tierra. Después de un largo viaje Gokū encontró por fin a Kaiosama, pero antes de empezar su entrenamiento tendrá que aprender a moverse con soltura en este planeta, el cual tiene 10 veces más gravedad que la Tierra. La primera prueba que le pone Kaio es la de atrapar a Bubbles, su mono mascota

Tras adaptarse a la gravedad, atrapar a Bubbles y a Gregory, la luciérnaga mascota de Kaio, Gokū iniciara su entrenamiento técnico. Pero antes, Kaio le cuenta todo lo que sabe acerca de los Saiyajin. Gohan, Pikoro continúan con su arduo entrenamiento.

Los temibles saiyajin han llegado finalmente a la Tierra. Gokū, con el que todo el mundo cuenta para defender el planeta ha resucitado gracias a las esferas del dragón, pero para regresar a la Tierra va a necesitar más de una jornada de camino. ¿Llegará nuestro héroe a tiempo para salvar al planeta del desastre?.

Los saiyajin llegaron finalmente a la Tierra y destruyeron una ciudad entera. En el otro mundo, Gokū que apenas recobró la vida corre todo lo que puede para reunirse con sus amigos y así ayudarles a combatir al enemigo. Por otro lado, Pikoro, Gohan y Krilin se encuentran por primera vez cara a cara con los terribles saiyajin. En vez de empezar el combate, los dos guerreros deciden plantar unas pequeñas y extrañas semillas que unos instantes después de enterradas se transforman en 6 monstruosas criaturas, se trata de los guerreros Saibaiman.

Se ha entablado un combate sin piedad entre los saiyajin y los amigos de Gokū que intentan salvar la Tierra. Después de una lucha encarnizada, Yamcha fue vencido por los Saibaiman y se convirtió en la primera víctima del enemigo. Krillin, furioso, extermina al resto de los nómadas. El próximo en pelear es Nappa.

Nappa es una tormenta de fuerza imparable, ni todos los ataques juntos de los Guerreros Z lo detienen, e incluso Ten Shin Han pierde un brazo en la lucha. Chaos, en un desesperado intento, se inmola junto con Nappa, sacrificando su vida. Ten cae desconsolado porque encima de que el ataque no surtió efecto, Chaos ha fallecido por segunda vez, lo que implica que no podrá ser revivido con las Esferas del Dragón.

Ten esta sin consuelo por la perdida definitiva de su mejor amigo Chaos, e inicia un ataque furioso a Nappa. La diferencia de poder es notable y el saiyajin elude y responde cada uno de los ataques de Ten. En un último intento, Ten carga a su máxima potencia el Ki Ko Ho y se lo dispara a Nappa. El saiyajin controla el ataque y Ten, exhausto, fallece. La situación esta complicada, Pikoro, Krillin y Gohan no logran hacerle nada a Nappa. Vegeta, el otro saiyajin, decide parar la pelea por tres horas hasta que llegue el guerrero que alardean los terrícolas: Gokū

Vegeta y Nappa les dieron tres horas de tregua a los guerreros Z para que llegue Gokū, y la espera se hace desesperante. Gokū ya ha llegado a la Tierra.

Las tres horas han pasado y Gokū no ha llegado. la lucha retoma y los Guerreros Z diseñan una estrategia con el fin de tomarle la cola a Nappa. La estrategia falla y Pikoro es golpeado seriamente, lo que causa una reacción violenta de Gohan.

Un enfurecido Nappa busca atacar a Gohan, pero su ataque es contenido por Pikoro, que cae gravemente herido. Gohan le implora a Pikoro que resista, este reconoce al pequeño como su único amigo y como el ser que le dio una nueva visión de la vida, pero las heridas son mortales y Pikoro fallece. Con su muerte, Kami-sama y Las Esferas del Dragón desaparecen. Gohan estalla de furia y le dispara un Masenko a Nappa, hiriéndole la mano. En ese momento Gokū llega al campo de batalla.

Gokū llega y se consterna por la escena. Les da semillas del Ermitaño a Krillin y Gohan y les pide que abandonen la lucha. Nappa es su primer oponente, pero se ve totalmente superado por la increíble fuerza de Gokū. Un sorprendido Vegeta pide luchar en lugar de Nappa, pero como premio consuelo le deja deshacerse de Krillin y Gohan. Al ver la situación, Gokū hiere gravemente a Nappa utilizando el asombroso Kaio-Ken. Vegeta se enfurece por la ineptitud de Nappa y lo asesina...una gran lucha se avecina

Vegeta se desespera y le lanza un Galick-Ho a Gokū, el cual responde con un Kamehameha, las técnicas se igualan, pero Gokū se arriesga todo y con un cuádruple Kaio-Ken rechaza el Galick-Ho. Pero Vegeta no se da por vencido, aun tiene un as bajo la manga. Y Gokū también...

Vegeta, al notar la ausencia de la luna, crea una bola de energía Blutz, la cual lo ayuda a transformarse en Ōzaru. Gokū, tras darse cuenta que el mismo mató a su abuelo, decide utilizar su última técnica: la Genkidama. Gokū ha reunido energía pero es sorprendido por Vegeta, que lo ataca sin piedad. Gohan y Krillin deciden volver al campo de batalla.

Vegeta está acabando con Gokū justo cuando Krillin y Gohan llegan. La misión de ambos es cortarle la cola al saiyajin, pero fallan. En un descuido de Vegeta, Yajirobe consigue cortarle la cola, haciendo que Vegeta regrese a su estado normal. Gokū tiene un plan: le pide a Gohan que luche con Vegeta mientras le da energía a Krillin para crear la Genkidama.

Gokū entregó sus últimas fuerzas a Krilin para crear la Genkidama. Este se la lanza pero Vegeta la esquiva. La energía de la Genkidama solo reconoce Ki maligno, por lo que Gohan pudo hacerla rebotar y darle de lleno al saiyajin. Vegeta cae malherido pero con algo de fuerza, pero se da cuenta de que a Gohan le creció la cola...

Vegeta se atemoriza de que Gohan pueda transformarse en Ōzaru y va a atacarlo, pero nuevamente aparece Yajirobe y lo detiene, eso le da tiempo a que Gohan mire la esfera de energía Blutz y se transforme. Gohan ataca a Vegeta y toma ventaja, pero el saiyajin logra cortarle la cola. Sin embargo Gohan cae sobre el y lo aplasta. Vegeta decide huir antes de que terminen de liquidarlo, pero Krillin lo encara. Gokū pide encarecidamente a Krillin que deje retirarse a Vegeta, para tener una justa revancha. La Tierra fue salvada por el momento.

La pelea ha concluido y la Tierra, a salvo. Pero con el costo de las perdidas de los guerreros. Bulma, Roshi, Karin y Milk rescatan a sus amigos y ponen a salvo los cuerpos de los caídos. Krillin hace referencia a algo que habían dicho los Saiyajin: de que Pikoro pertenecía a la raza Nameku. Si de verdad hay un planeta en el que vivan más Namekuseijin, probablemente sepan algo o posean Dragon Balls. Kaio confirma la existencia de Namekusei y se los hace saber.

El objetivo es ir hacia el planeta Namekusei, y para eso Krillin sugiere usar la nave que pertenecía a Nappa ya que Vegeta huyo en la suya y Gohan destruyó la de Raditz. Pero Bulma destruye accidentalmente la nave y la esperanza se diluye. Mr Popo aparee oportunamente y pide compañía para ir a Yunzabit, un lugar de clima difícil, ya que en ese lugar hay un extraño artefacto a analizar. Bulma lo acompaña y cae en cuenta de que es la nave en la que el namekuseique se convirtió en KamiSama llegó a la Tierra. Y para mayor sorpresa, la nave aun sigue en condiciones de funcionar.

Bulma, Krillin y Gohan parten hacia Namekusei con el fin de investigar si dicho planeta posee Dragon Balls, desconociendo de que hay algo peligroso detrás.
